Community of Practice


A community of practice is a group of people who share a common concern for something they do and a commitment to learn how to do it better through regular conversations, interaction and collaboration.

Individually, we all have demonstrated an interest and commitment to Peer Mentoring to Support Students with Disabilities. We also want to share our expertise and learnings with each other and other teachers throughout Alberta.

Thank you for committing to the Peer Mentoring to Support Students with Disabilities. Your commitments include:
  • Participating in a one-day face-to-face orientation session in September (travel and sub costs to be covered by project)
  • Implementing (or expanding) a peer mentoring program at our schools in 2013-2014, focused on supporting students with disabilities
  • Participating in four one-hour online meetings/webinars throughout the school year to share our experiences, learn new strategies and network with other participants
  • Contributing to discussion and the development of content on a dedicated project website
  • Responding to two online surveys and sharing experiences about our school’s peer mentoring project
  • Participating in a one-day follow-up session in May/June 2014 to share success stories (travel and sub costs to be covered by project)
